Therefore, when abbrivated numbers are grouped by magnitudes of thousands in English:

• 1 000 → 1K
• 1 000 000 → 1M
• 1 000 000 000 → 1B

...CJK numbers are shortened by magnitude of myriads:

• 1 0000 → 1 萬 (wàn, myriad)
• 1 0000 0000 → 1 億 (yì, myllion)
• 1 0000 0000 0000 → 1 兆 (zhào, byllion)

Therefore, if the program hard-coded the number to be grouped by thousands, localizers would have to translate as it is with unnatural sounding numbers:

• 12M → 12 百萬 (lit. 12 hundred wàn)
• 12B → 12 ​十億 (lit. 12 ten yì)
